WHAT IS GICLEE?
Pronounced "zhee-clay" (French for "that which is sprayed") is the term commonly used to signify an elevation in digital art
printmaking processes. Images are generated from high resolution digital scans and printed with archival quality inks onto
various platforms including canvas, fine art, and watercolor paper. The Giclee printing process provides superior color
accuracy than other means of reproduction art work.
THE QUALITY:
The quality of the Giclee print rivals traditional silver-halide and gelatin printing processes which is commonly found in
museum, art galleries, and photographic galleries. Numerous examples of Giclee prints can be found in New York City at the
Metropolitan Museum, the Museum of Modern Art, and the Chelsea Galleries.
HOW IS IT DONE?
The original art work is digitally captured in a full scale to obtain the highest resolution. Then our professional printer runs an
"artist proof" and it is compared with the original. Adjustments are made until the artist is completely satisfied with the result.
Then the Giclee prints are then coated with a scratch and UV resistant varnish as a protective measure.
HAND EMBELLISHING:
We use fine art oil paint for the embellishment. The is where the artist revisit the painting and create its own individuality for
the piece itself.
STRETCHER AND GALLERY WRAPPING?
The print is gallery wrapped on stretcher bars with the picture continuing around the sides so that no other frame is needed!
